CNS News
by Terry Jeffrey
August 6, 2014

The total federal debt of the U.S. government has now increased more than $7 trillion during the slightly more than five and a half years Barack Obama has been president.

That is more than the debt increased under all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined, and it is more debt than was accumulated in the first 227 years of this nation's existence--from 1776 through 2003. The total federal debt first passed the $7-trillion mark on Jan. 15, 2004, after President George W. Bush had been in office almost three years.

Americans still favor government subsidies to companies unable to otherwise compete in the green-tech industry.

may be especially true of Nancy Pelosi and her family, but not exactly for reasons of environmental improvement. Let's start with this report from The Hill, via Gateway Pundit and Instapundit, on the latest approved green-tech loan from the Department of Energy...

Just moments before the Blackhawks parade traveled east on Washington Street, Chicago police stopped a man in front of City Hall, checked his backpack and discovered two guns.

Officials say there's no reason to believe a Matteson man arrested Friday morning near Chicago City Hall with two guns on him was planning on harming anyone at the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup victory celebration. Still, 37-year-old Roger Harrison faces two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of marijuana possession. Bail was set at $75,000 Saturday when Harrison appeared in bond court, according to the Chicago Tribune.

'3AM' Phone Call To Hillary From Libya Got A Busy Signal
CNS News
by Ken Blackwell
January 30, 2013

Hillary Clinton finally faced down her critics on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week.

She fired back at Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) when he tried to get her to acknowledge that the entire story of an anti-Islamic video inflaming mobs who then murdered Amb. Chris Stevens and three other brave Americans in Libya had been, to put it charitably, wholly unsubstantiated. All along, Hillary had acted as if this was someone else's issue. She was, after all, the Secretary of State who gets "1.43 million cables come into my office" a week. They're all addressed to me, she petulantly shot back. Now, just for a moment, let's consider that statement. Can she really mean she has put in place no system for determining what she must see? She describes a process she allowed to stay in place for four long years that apparently is like drinking from a fire hose. No, that would be 1.43 fire hoses.

'A Public Safety Disaster': ObamaCare Could Force THOUSANDS of Volunteer Fire Departments to Close

by David Martosko
December 10, 2013

Volunteer fire departments all across the U.S. could find themselves out of money and unable to operate unless Congress or the Obama Administration exempts them from the Affordable Care Act.

'I thought the kinks were worked out of Obamacare at the first of the month, Central Florida volunteer firefighter Carl Fabrizi told Sunshine State News. 'Man, oh, man, this could potentially destroy some real good companies in Florida.' The U.S. Department of Labor takes the term 'volunteer' literally, but the IRS says volunteer firefighters are technically employees if they're on the job more than 30 hours per week, making them subject to Obamacare's employee-mandate rules.

'Abortion Is as American as Apple Pie'
The American Spectator
by George Neumayr

Meet abortion provider Merle Hoffman, who has her own way of marking the Roe v. Wade anniversary.

In 2004, Planned Parenthood began selling T-shirts emblazoned with the declaration, "I Had An Abortion." This was part of its campaign to "demystify and destigmatize" the practice. Prominent abortion advocates felt at the time that their movement had grown too timid.
