If you have 'nothing to hide', here's where to send your passwords

Nearly every week, I hear someone shrug off privacy issues with a claim that they're not worried because they have "nothing to hide" from the government. Let's put a cork in it, once and for all.

"Over the last 16 months, as I've debated this issue around the world, every single time somebody has said to me, 'I don't really worry about invasions of privacy because I don't have anything to hide,' I always say the same thing to them. I get out a pen. I write down my email address. I say, 'Here's my email address. What I want you to do when you get home is email me the passwords to all of your email accounts, not just the nice, respectable work one in your name, but all of them, because I want to be able to just troll through what it is you're doing online, read what I want to read and publish whatever I find interesting. After all, if you're not a bad person, if you're doing nothing wrong, you should have nothing to hide.'

Senate Leader Surprises Lawmakers with New ISIS War Powers Request

Neither Republicans nor Democrats knew the majority leader planned to set up a debate on authorizing the use of force against the Islamic State.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell offered members a snow-weekend surprise late Wednesday night: Quietly teeing up a debate on the legal underpinning for the fight against ISIS. After months of worrying that such a resolution-known as an authorization for the use of military force-would tie the next president's hands, McConnell's move to fast-track the measure surprised even his top deputy, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, who was unaware that McConnell had set up the authorization.

The Real Purpose of Chemtrails

Chemtrails have been sprayed for at least 15 years and now we know what they are doing it for.

There has been more speculation about the purpose of these "streaks in the sky" than any other apparent phenomenon. And the "mis-information" minions have been hard at work to convince the public of chemtrails just being a fabrication of conspiracy theorists.

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win". These words of profound wisdom from Mahatma Gandhi should be kept in the front of our minds...

Man-made climate change paved the way for American scientists to come up with the idea of weather modification. They reasoned that if daily human activity was already impacting weather patterns, it was acceptable for them to deliberately change the weather for a variety of purposes. The first meeting about weather modification was held at the end of 1945. At this time, the possibility of using several weather manipulation schemes to America's advantage during war was discussed. Later, during the Cold War, funds were poured into further research on the topic.

'Mow them Down,' Americans Once Critical of Police Killings Now Beg Feds to "Slaughter" US Citizen

Princeton, OR - On Saturday, multiple armed 'militiamen' took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge HQ to protest the sentence handed down to two Oregon ranchers accused of arson.

Aside from being thrown in jail for a second time, the Hammonds are upset because they allege no crime was ever committed. "They called and got permission to light the fire... We usually called the interagency fire outfit - a main dispatch - to be sure someone wasn't in the way or that weather wouldn't be a problem," said Dwight's wife Susan. The Hammonds say they were engaging in prescribed burns to keep the land healthy and productive. And, they assert that the Bureau of Land Management also conducts these burns. The Hammonds lit a fire on their own property that spread to public land. No one was injured, no property was destroyed and the Hammond extinguished the fire themselves, according to the Bundys. The court even ruled that the fires actually had a positive impact on the land.

You're a Criminal in a Mass Surveillance World - How to Not Get Caught

I was in Amsterdam when the Snowden story broke. CNN was non-stop asking politicians and pundits, "Is Edward Snowden a traitor?" Those who said he betrayed America also said something else: Mass surveillance is only an issue if you're a criminal.

The Snowden story hit me upon my return from - of all places on earth - the Secret Annex of the Anne Frank House. The Secret Annex is where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis for two years. It was during this period of hiding in terror that Anne wrote her world-famous diary. In it she confided, "I want to be useful or bring enjoyment to all people, even those I've never met."

You probably know that Comcast is hitting subscribers with overage charges of $10 (£7) when they exceed their 300GB monthly data caps. But can customers trust Comcast to measure Internet usage accurately?

The nation's largest cable company points to research it commissioned showing that its data metering is usually accurate, but one customer who contacted Ars was able to prove that he was being incorrectly accused of using excessive data.

Since China's capital city Beijing issued its first ever air pollution red alert last week, sales of bottled Canadian fresh mountain air to Chinese customers have soared.

The red alert over air pollution was issued by Beijing authorities on December 7, lasting three days, amid the second bout of bad air this month. During this time PM2.5 levels - tiny hazardous airborne particles - exceeded 900 micrograms per cubic metre.

Congress is poised to force Facebook and other social media networks to inform on users they believe might be engaged in "online terrorist activity."

Last week Dianne Feinstein, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee along with the committee's chairman Richard Burr, introduced the "Requiring Reporting of Online Terrorist Activity Act". The proposed law is modeled after an existing law requiring companies to report child pornography.

Fukushima report declassified: Worse than we were told
RT
December 11, 2015

Fukushima nuclear power plant is still experiencing major contamination issues nearly five years after the earthquake, tsunami, and subsequent meltdown.

Cesium has been linked to thyroid cancer, which is on the increase in the Fukushima area since the tsunami, according to the US National Library of Medicine. The chemical is highly soluble in water and can find its way into foodstuffs that have been prepared in contaminated areas. Anti-nuclear activist Dr Helen Caldicott said during the crisis that if unit four collapsed, she was going to move her family from Boston to the southern hemisphere.
