Microsoft released nine updates addressing vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Exchange, SQL Server, Server Software, Developer Tools and VBA. This includes security updates. A reboot is required.

Two notable fixes are a patch for the mechanism by which the virus Duqu propagates, and a protocol-level SSL/TLS vulnerability which affects nearly all operating systems. Hey folks!

IE9 has officially been released. It’s not being pushed by Microsoft, yet, but it’s only a matter of time before every Vista and Win7 machine is “encouraged” to upgrade through Windows Update. If you are involved in web design, you should take this time to upgrade to IE9 and test your site(s) with it. This is not a security update.

Updates 2011-03-08

Hey folks!

Microsoft released four updates today for Patch Tuesday. Use Windows Update to obtain updates to Windows and MS Office. This includes security updates. Total size of these updates is under 10mb. A reboot is required.

After updating, please check functionality exposed by plugins and themes to ensure there are no conflicts (unfortunately, there are likely to be many).
