Happy New Year!

Today is Patch Tuesday for January, 2026.

If your Windows 10 computer can not be upgraded to Windows 11 then you should either replace your device or use the Windows 10 ESU program to get another year out of it.

Windows 11 25H2 is now available and Windows 11 23H2 and older are no longer supported. Treat Windows 11 25H2 as beta software and wait a few months before upgrading.

macOS 26 Tahoe is now available and macOS 13 Ventura and older are no longer supported. macOS 26 is now stable and it’s important to update to 26.2 to resolve a critical security vulnerability.

There were 1325+ major hacks, and over 305 application updates this month. It’s a relatively small month, with about 3.0 GB of updates for most users.

Happy Easter, Folks!

Today is Patch Tuesday for April, 2025.

It’s as safe as it’s going to be to upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 or macOS 15/Sequoia.

If your Windows 10 (or older) computer can not be upgraded to Windows 11, or if you used a registry or installation bypass to install an older version of Windows 11 on it that is no longer supported, then it’s time for you to start looking for a replacement computer. Actually, the time was 3 months ago. Pickin’s are thin right now. 🙁

There were 320+ major hacks, and over 360 application updates this month. It’s a relatively small month, with about 2.5 GB of updates for most users.

Updates 2024-09-10

Welcome back, Folks!

Today is Patch Tuesday for September, 2024.

We’re one month closer to the next build of Windows 11 and the next release of macOS, both due in mere weeks. A new major version of Office (aka Microsoft 365) is due at the same time, as well.

When the new build of Windows 11 is released all versions of Windows 11 prior to 23H2 will no longer be supported. Upgrade to 23H2 now if you have not done so yet, then do not upgrade to 24H2 when it is released. Let everyone else be the guinea pigs.

When the new build of macOS is released all versions of macOS prior to 13/Ventura will no longer be supported. If you can’t upgrade your Mac to Ventura you need to switch it to Linux or replace it.

Windows 10 now has only 13 months of support left. If your computer can not be upgraded to Windows 11 either start planning for a switch to Linux or replacing your computer.

There were 310+ major hacks, and over 200 application updates this month.
It’s a relatively small month, with only about 2.0 GB of updates for most users.

Updates 2023-11-14

Happy Thanksgiving, Folks!

Today is Patch Tuesday for November, 2023. It’s ugly.

This month brings a new version of Windows 11 (v23H2), critical security updates for all supported Apple products, and (literally) new security updates for every browser every single week since the last update cycle on October 10th. That’s on top of the 190+ major hacks, and over 205 application updates this month. Prepare yourself, there will be about 5 GB of updates for most devices this month.

The new Windows Copilot AI feature is now enabled by default in Windows 10 and 11, but can be disabled either in the deep settings or within group policy.
